FAQS
Chocolate should ideally be stored in a cool, dry spot, away from heat and light. The ideal temperature range is 16C - 18C with a relative humidity below 60%. Avoid storing chocolate in the fridge or freezer, except in extreme weather conditions. It can negatively impact the flavour and texture of your chocolates. Subjecting chocolate to varying conditions can also lead to a separation of the cacao butter, making it rise to the surface with a whitish bloom. While the chocolate is perfectly safe for consumption, the flavour and texture may be compromised.
When storing chocolates, keep them away from other items that have strong aromas such as spices, garlic etc. as the chocolate will absorb them. If in doubt, place your chocolates, in their box, in an airtight container to store safely.
Our chocolate bonbons are best consumed within two weeks of purchase. To ensure freshness and peak deliciousness, store them between 12 - 18C, in a cool, dry spot.
If you live in a very warm and humid climate, and do not have adequate air conditioning at home, you may need to store your chocolates in the fridge. We recommend that you place your chocolates, in their box, in an airtight container, and wrap it in cling film.
Remove the box from the fridge at least 20 minutes before consumption of your chocolates to let them come to room temperature before opening the airtight container in which they are stored.
This will protect your chocolates from sudden changes in temperature and humidity, to mitigate against bloom, as well as from any strongly flavoured or smelling foods in the fridge.
The shelf life of chocolates varies widely. The majority of our chocolates (bonbons and filled bars) have a shelf life of 6 to 8 weeks. Some nut pralines and confections will last for up to 6 months, tablettes even longer. However, to enjoy bonbons at their best, we recommend consuming them within two weeks of purchase.
Our chocolates are a fresh product, with no added preservatives or shelf life extenders.
